I’m Hannah, a celebrant based in Alexandra, coming here via a sheep farm in Southland, the radio industry in Dunedin and starting our family in Fairlie. Around 8 years ago I discovered a love of standing up and telling people’s stories. Becoming a celebrant has been the best decision of my life.

I know it’s not all sunshine and lollipops for you right now, so I’ll make this as quick and painless a read as possible.    Let you know who I am as a funeral celebrant, how I can make planning a funeral a little less daunting.

I’m a story teller, a guide and adaptable.

I won’t tell you what the best way is to celebrate the life and mourn the loss of the person you’ve lost, but I will guide you.  Walk you through the ceremony, give you suggestions for what to include and how the service might look.  (Anything you already know you want, just tell me)

I’ll meet with you and your family and we’ll talk.

It’s my job to ask questions and listen to your stories.

To create a service that along with anybody you choose to have speak or give a tribute, will tell the story of who this person was, what made them magic to be around and how much they’ll be missed.

And what’s important to include in a funeral is different for everyone.

There’s no right way to do this, just what’s right for you, your family, the person we’ll be remembering and their friends.

Tell me about what you’d like, what instructions this person left, who they were and what was important to them and we’ll make it happen.

I know time is tight for you, so here’s the last bits and pieces about me you might find useful.

I’m new to funerals, with a small number under my belt, but I have 7+ years experience as a busy marriage celebrant creating ceremonies and telling stories on couples’ wedding days.  I have also completed the Celebrant’s Training College Funeral Celebrant Module.

And to get the difficult to bring up subject of cost out of the road now.

My flat rate fee is $500.  Travel for a meeting and the service is included as far as Cromwell, Omakau and Roxborough, with travel beyond that priced at a reasonable rate.

You’re very welcome to contact me directly

(Phone 027 384 7886 or email or to ask the funeral director you’re working with to get in touch with me.
